jeremias the article does not present a productive argument. it's like moralizing about plastic straws. sure, my personal site will be blazing fast, but it's an argument that is totally lost on the fact that the biggest offenders are large deeply entrenched sites.

jeremias this is the real crux of the argument. 'bloat' has always been a problem (speaking from experience using a 2400 baud modem in 1998). the heart wants what the heart wants. everyone is making time/resource tradeoffs daily, yelling at them doesn't help any (or get them a raise).

jeremias final point here, to use the adobe billing ex. from the article: somebody at adobe is gonna see this article and say "What's the roi on improving that page perf?" and i can say with almost total certainty that working to trim that route down is all cost with no tangible return.
